Listening: A Podcast for Kids
Listen to short podcast interviews where a host talks to a guest, then answer the questions.
In a listening task, read the questions before you listen. This helps you know what information to look for. When you listen the first time, try to understand the general idea. During the second listen, focus on details like names, numbers, days and places.
Key terms
key words — Important words like names, numbers, days and places that help you find answers.
gist — The general idea or main topic of what you hear.
detail — A small piece of specific information like a time, a colour or a number.
speaker — The person who is talking in the audio.
inference — Understanding something that is not said directly by thinking about what you heard.

You will hear each clip two times. Use the first listen to understand the general topic.
